Affirming Therapy in Somerville, MA

Specializing in serving the queer, trans, kink, BDSM, polyamorous/non-monogamy, and chronic illness communities.

Welcome

My name is Dr. Marussia Role (they/them) and I became a therapist to provide support and affirmation to folks with systemically oppressed identities. These identities include (but are far from limited to!) being trans, queer, kinky, in the BDSM community, chronically ill, POC, disabled, fat (living in a bigger body), a cisgender woman, neurodivergent, and polyamorous/non-monogamous. Some of these identities I share and some I don’t; in both cases, I want to hear from you about what your individual experience is. Therapy looks different for all of my clients, so I’d invite you to consider: what do I want the role of therapy to be in my life? …And yes, the “role” bit here is also a pun on my name. I like adding (appropriate amounts of) humor to my work.

I work with folks navigating a variety of presenting concerns including relationships/dating, boundary setting, emerging adulthood (college and grad students welcome!), depression, anxiety and differences in views/beliefs from family of origin. I believe that you deserve frank, warm support and to not be handled with kid gloves (or the dreaded, overly soothing “therapist voice”) as we navigate whatever brings you to therapy. I’m glad you’re here and hope you can use this site to determine if we might be a good fit for working together. Check out the About Dr. Role section to learn more about my background and the work I do.

If you want to invite me onto your therapy journey, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and to tell you more about what I can offer you. You can reach out to me through the Contact Form so we can get started. I look forward to helping you find some gentler times ahead.
