About Dr. Role

I’m Dr. Marussia Role (they/them), a clinical psychologist and White, non-binary, queer, agnostic/jewish, neurodivergent (ADHDer), chronically ill person. I have specialized training and experience in working with chronically ill, queer, trans and/or non-binary, non-monogamous, COVID conscious, and kinky folks (among many other intersecting, systemically oppressed identities). I help my clients feel truly heard, learn to advocate for themselves, and balance their therapy journeys with the rest of their lives. I like to mix in gentleness, celebration, and the occasional “dad joke” to our work. Roxy, my ESA, also sometimes joins me in my sessions.

In my work, I integrate approaches such as Relational-Cultural Therapy (RCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT). I also use some of the principles of HAES (without the healthism) and Intuitive Eating to help clients move toward body neutrality in a deeply fatphobic world. Clients tell me that these approaches help them acknowledge their unique constellation of challenges in the world with compassion, consider what they value in the world/ who they want to be and, ultimately, achieve their therapeutic goals. These approaches help me work with folks struggling with a variety of concerns, including anxiety, relationships/dating, self-esteem, and imposter syndrome. If that sounds like you, I’d like you to know that we can challenge unhelpful beliefs together about yourself and your worth, practice asking for what you need, and make your life a little easier to navigate.

If you want to invite me onto your therapy journey, I’d be thrilled to hear from you. I offer a free, 15 minute consultation to discuss what you hope to gain from therapy and to tell you more about what I can offer you. You can reach out to me through the Contact form so we can get started. I look forward to helping you find some gentler times ahead.
